I happened to live in Turkey at the time. With a salary in US dollars and bills in Lira it was great for me but not so much for everyone else.

Yeah, I mean Erdogan has very..ahem.. unorthodox views on monetary policy which was at odds with a number of consecutive central bank heads which led to Erdogan's take over.. and predicable results followed.

Mmm, and how has the Turkish Lira fared since then..?

To me Totoro is the outstanding one. I can watch that over and over again. If I were to rank top 3: Totoro, Mononoke, Spirited Away..

This is also where the left have gone so horribly wrong by decrying "American imperialism". Imperialism is now a mostly corporate franchise, not a nations one.

I think that this whole discussion about foreign aid and US soft power miss the point. Some think they can sway Musk/Trump by appealing to US national interests, that US is safer with these programmes. What many miss is Musk cares nothing of US interests, they care for their own corporate interest.

Quick synopisis: Firesale on all US infrastructure to cover up access to US social security and then plunder the state of all its money..

Ok hear me out. Isn't what Musk is doing to the US almost exactly the plot to die hard 4?

Fair enough, and it was not my intention to diminish the findings in the article. I thoroughly enjoyed the read, which showcase all the different variables one can look at a player's history and why cricket, at least to me, stand out from many other sports.

Indeed an interesting read. I guess (and forgive me if this doesn't make sense) the fact that the author had to dig deep to find something Smith is NOT great at, sort of affirms his claim to greatness? Like tennis "great" Bjorn Borg never won a US open.

I'm actually sort of surprised that not more people are highlighting this. I am also wondering how many people in law enforcement/security personnel would consider joining a militia that gets a pardon for anything they do.
