Loved this art from, if I understood correctly, a book by a Nigerian-German author in which a boy is helped by Saint Brigid to say goodbye to his grandmother who died before he had the chance to see her (I am possibly mixing up two authors but still love the image).

The adult library has many Irish and Irish-German authors, an extensive section on cinema (plus a huge selection of DVDs), audio books, newspapers from Germany, and has a very active book club.

The large kids library covers all ages and hosts courses for different levels right up to senior cycle.

The ceiling is to die for (if awkward to photograph properly) and the gorgeous alcoves were discovered during renovation.

One of our dear customers works at the Goethe Institute on Merrion square and was kind enough to give me a grand tour of their library which is open to the public - you should absolutely visit it even if you know a word of German because it's stunning.
