In 2012, Camden, NJ's homicide rate was 18X higher than the national average. In 2024, it was 4.7X higher.

Camden, NJ had 67 homicides in 2012 (including 21 in the summer months). In 2024, the city had 17 (including 4 in the summer months). Read about it in "Chasing Change in Camden: Police Reform in One of America's Most Violent Cities."

RIP to @nj.com reporter Matt Arco. Thanks for holding our elected officials, gov't entities, and other powers that be accountable. I enjoyed reading his columns over the years. Here's one of my favorites. Notice how detailed and thorough it is.
