For people that play far enough, also keep an eye out for a (criminally) optional sidequest about him and Poppi. This shows him in the more positive light the story intends.

The big shock is that, even from his entrance in the game... The story gives you the math that Tora's father and gramps are the latter. He was raised by them, and they were the ones who did most of the work on Poppi. Arguably, he didn't have a good role model until he got to join Rex.

Tora's story is one where he wants to be a hero despite the odds. For one, his family couldn't summon blades, so they had to make one themselves. For another, the nopons in Alrest are depicted as either simple, innocent critters living their lives or the sleaziest furballs.

It's crazy seeing people say the show "fell off" at s2, too. I guess a lot of viewers are sensitive to change and experimenting
