After 7 years of severe depression, I recovered. Yes, you can get better. When I was ill, I promised myself I would travel from the UK to Florida to visit the Kennedy Space Center. So in April I did just that. Had a wonderful time there and met a real astronaut who had flown on the Shuttle. Perfect!

NHS mental health hospital staff attitude to older patients is "Take these tablets, don't ask questions, don't argue, vegetate and don't give us any problems. We are all-powerful medics, we know best, you are old, you know nothing."
They behave like it's the 1920s, not the 2020s. Arrogant clowns.

What a patient with a mental health problem needs most of all is kindness. A sense that somebody is standing beside you, to help you get through your illness. NHS staff, with a small number of exceptions, are just incapable of doing this. Pay peanuts... etc....

NHS mental health services are for the most part staffed by burnt out, irritable and sometimes incompetent individuals who do patients more harm than good. Mental hospitals are organised for the convenience of their unpleasant, lazy staff, not to provide beneficial "care" for patients. Abysmal.

Thank you, that's very kind. I am fully well again now I am glad to say. I found reserves of inner strength and got better, despite the "help" of the broken NHS!

I was misunderstood and sectioned by NHS staff who were too lazy to bother to get to know me. "I'll come and have a chat with you" one hospital doctor kept saying to me. But he never appeared, and we never did have the promised chat, in all the 28 days I was in his dreadful hospital. Liar.
