2 years ago a song sparked a book idea, then deeper ponderings, things I had to say about death & grief, the burden of great empathy, the unsolvable riddle of faith & belief. Drafting & researching became writing. I often feel I should be much further along, but I’m grateful for how far I’ve come.

That was a hiatus! In April my boss left the organization, sending me into a 5 month gauntlet of interim leadership and the longest interview of my life. Writing and most everything else fell by the wayside. But now I’m the big boss 😬 so here’s hoping I can carve out some time for creativity again!

Learning to be grateful for the storms that shake our branches and show us how strong our roots really are … change can feel like chaos but we can’t grow if we’re swaddled all safe and tight in the known, in the past. We’ve got to welcome the thunder and the wind as much as the rain.

It’s really rough to be a morning writer with an 8:30-5 “real” job. Squeezed in what I could over coffee. After work my brain is just too busy and buzzy to get in a good writing headspace.
