454. Babe: Pig in the City (1998), directed by George Miller, rewatch

ok it's actually extremely believable that george miller directed this movie

453. Rental Family (2025), directed by Hikari, first time viewing

If nearly anyone other than Brendan Fraser starred in this, it would probably be too saccharine and corny for me, but he's just so likable that I'm there for him helping people be less lonely and becoming less lonely himself

452. Nope (2022), directed by Jordan Peele, first time viewing

Slept on this for too long -- was SO into everything Nope did, from the amazing monster to the parallels with getting chewed up and spit out by the entertainment industry (and the incredible flashback related to that). Great movie!

451. American Fiction (2023), directed by Cord Jefferson, first time viewing

A little too much Subtext Is For Cowards, but easily forgiven because the movie is pretty damn funny and I enjoyed the layers of satirical bullshit to the story.

450. Sisu: Road to Revenge (2025), directed by Jalmari Helander, first time viewing

Ups the ante from the previous movie by being even more ridiculously, cartoonishly violent. There are some set pieces that had me CACKLING in the theater. This is one for fans of The Itchy & Scratchy Show.

449. The Last Showgirl (2024), directed by Gia Coppola, first time viewing

Pamela Anderson is really good in this -- the cast as a whole is good, actually, and I liked the faded nostalgic look of the movie, as well, very fitting for the subject matter.

448. Good Boy (2025), directed by Ben Leonberg, first time viewing

Solid haunted house movie from the perspective of a dog. Does a good job of using framing, editing, and lighting to suggest the emotions it wants to evoke since the dog obviously isn't "acting."
November 24, 2025 at 2:29 PM
447. Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, first time viewing

This one embraces the video game feel of the series the most successfully to this point and actually shows imagination with the scenario and the set pieces. I had a good time watching it!

446. Thunderbolts* (2025), directed by Jake Schreier, first time viewing

Wasn't a massive fan of the first half, but the second half lands pretty well when the movie actually gets sincere for a moment, even if the big metaphor is extremely on the nose. I'll take it!

445. Angel's Egg (1985), directed by Mamoru Oshii, rewatch

it was pretty cool seeing a near packed (albeit small) theater for what is a relatively cryptic anime in comparison to what normally gets released in theaters. it does help that the movie still looks amazing after 40 years

444. Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010), directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, first time viewing

the worst one yet, completely dull storyline and with fuck ugly action and general visuals to boot. i should have given in to the nap that developed during this movie

443. Pretty Woman (1990), directed by Garry Marshall, first time viewing

2025 is definitely the wrong year to watch a movie that sells you on the idea that this ruthless asshole businessman would develop a heart and see women as human beings after kicking it with Julia Roberts for a week lol
November 19, 2025 at 3:59 PM
442. PG: Psycho Goreman (2020), directed by Steven Kostanski, first time viewing

right in my wheelhouse in sense of humor and having fun with the tokusatsu influences, just a total blast to watch

441. 1990: The Bronx Warriors (1982), directed by Enzo G. Castellari, first time viewing

unlike the sequel, this one is about people breaking into the bronx rather than leaving it

440. In a Violent Nature (2024), directed by Chris Nash, first time viewing

Neat experiment and some truly great gore (the standout kill is an all-timer), but the deliberate pace doesn't always work and the last like 15 minutes of the movie are terrible
November 19, 2025 at 4:53 AM
439. Palm Springs (2020), directed by Max Barbakow, first time viewing

it's well worn territory but just enough of a twist in the setup to feel a bit fresh and both Andy Samberg and Cristin Milloti are funny in their roles
November 17, 2025 at 11:40 PM
438. Sinister (2012), directed by Scott Derrickson, first time viewing

Solid, effective horror movie. Ethan Hawke is good as this flawed writer getting way in over his head due to sheer desperation and paying the price.
November 17, 2025 at 2:56 PM
437. The Running Man (2025), directed by Edgar Wright, first time viewing

Entertaining and fun at a base level, but god damn does this movie have some Code Geass R2 ass pacing lol i know it's called the running man but holy shit does this rip through literally everything it has
November 17, 2025 at 2:26 AM
436. Skinamarink (2022), directed by Kyle Edward Ball, first time viewing

Not every piece of imagery worked for me and Skinamarink feels slowly paced during some bits, but when it works, the movie really rips into that childhood fear of the domestic space housing something secret and terrible

435. Escape from the Bronx (aka Escape 2000), directed by Enzo G. Castellari, first time viewing

LEAVE THE BRONX
November 15, 2025 at 9:14 PM
434. Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), directed by Russell Mulcahy, first time viewing

Leans into a lot of post-apocalyptic zombie stuff that bores the hell out of me while also being a sub-par Mad Max ripoff. That said, the scene where a bunch of zombie birds attack people is pretty good.
November 15, 2025 at 9:11 PM
433. Predator: Badlands (2025), directed by Dan Trachtenberg, first time viewing

Not entirely sure I am interested in a story that humanizes the Predator and imprints human values on it to the extent this movie does, but if you are going to do that, Badlands does it about as well as you could.
November 15, 2025 at 12:07 AM
432. Sisu (2022), directed by Jalmari Helander, first time viewing

If you like to see Nazis die in violent, hilarious ways, this is the movie for you.
November 14, 2025 at 2:28 PM
431. Halloween (2018), directed by David Gordon Green, first time viewing

Cool ending, but ultimately this is an OK slasher that has a lot of ideas that it has basically no interest in actually following through on because Michael Myers has to get his shit in
November 13, 2025 at 5:03 PM
430. Ice Age (2002), directed by Chris Wedge, first time viewing

how the hell did this get so many sequels
