Galneryus tierlist Peak music: Under the Force of Courage. Peak power metal: Ultimate Sacrifice. Peak Galneryus: Into the Purgatory, Reincarnation, Beyond the End of Despair. Quality Galneryus: Union Gives Strength, The Stars Will Light the Way, Ressurection Has some mid but the peak really REALLY carries it: Vetelgyus, Angel of Salvation Totally Solid Galneryus: All for One - One for All, The Flag of Punishment Has some mid but plenty of peak to make up for it: Phoenix Rising, Advance to the Fall Not even a bad album but Galneryus sets such a high bar this just seems mid by comparison: Between Dread and Valor

And to think that I was giving this show such glowing praise just episodes prior. Such a fucking letdown. We can't have nice things.
Episode 32 review: Simultaneously the most hilarious and most suffocatingly tense episode so far. This show is true peak. Episode 33 review (spoilers) What a Godly episode. The way TegaSword pushed Hoeru to choose his family over himself in his ultimatum gave me the feeling that he felt remorse over the Calamity's comeback and was almost asking Hoeru to kill him, in a sense. Hoeru choosing TegaSword's and his friends' happiness over his own was some true toku Jesus shit up there with Fourze's Cosmic States debut. Hoeru is a true hero and the rightful leader of the Gozyugers, and as a reward for his selflessness this episode, he got to show off another new badass super form. Also the Bellum vs Tegajune fight was wild! Some of the most dynamic CG animation I've seen in Sentai. Also love that we finally got a real suit for TegaJune. It is gorgeous. Just a wonderful episode all around. Episode 34 review: This episode felt like a movie

Gozyuger Episode 37. Heartbreak Number One.
My review of Gozyuger episode 37: How could I have been expected to give this episode a fair shake in the wake of Maya Imamori's ousting? Her removal from this episode leaves it feeling simultaneously rushed and padded at best and like something is severely wrong at worst. There was yet another peak episode here, once upon a time. Some great development to be had with Mashiro and his found family, and Ribbon is a cute addition to the Bridan. Their individual moments are perfect, but the episode itself is just too mortally wounded by the utter hackjob done to erase Sumino from existence. If I had a nickel for every time a Mashiro focus episode ending with the number 7 ended up being cursed as fuck... There was no preview for the next episode. It was supposed to be Sumino focused. It was almost creepy how awkward and wrong it felt for this episode to just not have one. This show is absolutely going on hiatus until the crew can figure out how to weather through this literal Calamity. This affront to justice and good will has not only sabotaged the career of a young, up and coming actress, but it has potentially ruined the last 14 episodes of a show I truly loved and appreciated. I don't see a good end to any of this. Heartbreak Number One.

I know I have a Gozyuger podcast I've been super behind on but this new episode gave me so many thoughts I just had to spill them out immediately in this review
Gozyuger Episode 27 review Yeah, this episode was... kinda off... and you can take my word for it as one of this season's biggest glazers. The weirdest part to me was Kuon's ChatGPT Doctor robots being treated as a good thing by our heroes. Makes sense given our guest writer for this episode has become a weird AI shill. Really hoping this attitude toward AI doesn't stay consistent through the rest of the show. A lot of the discourse surrounding this episode has been about the design of the Money No. 1. I've heard a lot of conflicting opinions from Arab/muslim voices about if the design is offensive or not, and I can't really make a definitive statement on it as a white guy, but I do think the exaggerated features (especially the big pink lips) deserve a raised eyebrow. Honestly, incorporating any kind of foreign cultural element into a monster meant to embody greed was just a boneheaded move on its face, and the scene in Dubai with the unnamed Oil Tycoon and his dog did nothing but bring more attention to the No. 1 looking like a caricature of his own people. (Continued) I also think the message of "money connecting people" was executed very poorly. Mashiro's gimmick of charging people for his heroism was funny when it was just a gag highlighting his grandiose selfishness, but making it something he's celebrated for to the point of others actually calling him a God for it honestly almost ruins his character for me. If it was him charging for doing oddjobs or tasks for people that weren't life or death, I really wouldn't have a problem with it. But if someone couldn't afford to pay him for stopping the yakuza from terrorizing their community (as happens in this episode), would he just look the other way? Mashiro, you're a god damn superhero. You're *supposed* to save people from danger free of charge, and I don't care what your flashback teammate said about you being "more responsible". Nevermind how convoluted it is that it's suddenly revealed that the previous Ring War took place in modern day, despite Mashiro being petrified 10,000 years in the past. I know the production blog put out an explanation for it, but I just don't see what narrative purpose it serves besides making it look like our guest writer straight up forgot Mashiro's established backstory (unless they just couldn't afford to make a convincing locale for ancient times and this is their way of working around that). This is honestly a nitpick compared to my actual issues with the episode but it certainly doesn't help this episode's messiness either. (Continued) Okay, vent session over. There's still at least some good in the episode I want to point out. The opening scene between Kuon and Bouquet was genuinely chilling in its execution with really nice cinematography. The action choreography throughout the episode is as great as usual (though GozyuPolar has become a bit of a one-trick pony with his one-hit finishers), and Killer Battle Japan... I need a figure of you expeditiously. I also thought it was funny to see GoodeBurne get upset over Mashiro piloting TegaSword in the previous episode. But yeah. This episode is far from Number One, which is a shame given how strong of a streak the entire show has been on prior to this episode. Of course, one bad Sixth Ranger focus episode can't immediately ruin an entire 50 episode show, so if this episode is just a fluke, I'll probably be right back to my regularly scheduled glazing by the next.
