We all know the truth: the world's climate conditions are changing, and changing quickly. Sitting in one's armchair, ignoring that stark truth, and blaming people for its effects isn't just pointlessly wasteful. It is cruelly, deliberately asinine.

So when I read comments blaming officials in LA and California for the destruction from the terrible wildfires, my only response is: Shut up, get off your keyboards, and get to work helping those affected.

Even if blamers are sitting around mouthing about bad government, bad planning, and bad officials, everyone else is doing the right thing: ignoring them, building friendships and trust, working furiously and coherently, restoring destroyed communities and dwellings and roads to working shape.

When things go badly wrong, they need a huge amount of collective, coordinated effort and expense to put them right. A good look into the amazing recovery efforts in North Carolina illustrate that process at work.

2/? It is also the most feel-good, self-righteous, and smug way to elevate one's ego at the expense of others.
