He/Him #Geology geologist somewhere in Utah. Will occasionally post dogs, rocks, and various other nature things, but mostly here to see what else is going on and learn cool new things/keep up with the horrors of authoritarian destruction.
#FossilFriday Late Triassic Chinle Formation coprolite. You can see the spiral pattern in at least one of the images. No wolf hair or credit card fragments…

iOS night mode camera, on the other hand, exaggerates but looks awesome. This is less than 50 north of the Arizona border, as the raven flies, so it’s probably visible in northern AZ and NM. Probably Vegas if not for Vegas. #NorthernLights #Utah

#Triassic plant (?) #fossils from the Chinle Formation, found in a talus slope full of boulders from the Shinarump Member. I don’t recognize anything, but I’m no paleobotanist. #Paleontology

@adobe.com has so enshittified their software that Photoshop can’t even complete my “request” to close the program. To Task Manager I go!

Some iPhone dark sky images from southern Utah. Remarkable for a phone camera, even more spectacular in person.

Not very impressed with these Yokohama Geolandars, in terms of durability. Seems like a minor amount of damage to cause a leak (were inflated within 1-2 psi of spec before leak). Should be a quick patch, but when it comes time for new tires I’m almost certainly choosing something else.

Got a tire puncture today and could hear the hissing (stopped to reinflate and head home before putting on the spare). Figured I’d try the old dish soap method to find the leak and it was a lot more obvious than I expected.

For (trace) #FossilFriday, an action shot of the team from the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site and some current and former #SUU students doing photogrammetry on Kayenta Formation #dinosaur tracks near Cedar City. Site originally noted by Tyler Knudsen of the Utah Geological Survey.

The nice thing about skipping the Oxford comma is that a bit of confusion is worth an occasional chuckle.
