Ooofff. Everyone, stop. Charlotte has a serious crime problem, a serious judicial problem, and a serious lack of accountability. I spoke at city council on Aug 25th, about gang violence in residential neighborhoods. This isn’t political, it is cascading policy failures.

I am saying this as a democrat, Charlotte has a massive problem with violent crime. It is cascading failures across all systems, and there is a problem with the judicial system releasing violent criminals. A 16 yr old was killed 2 weeks ago, after 2 known gang members were released after arrest.

Now do gang violence in Charlotte. Seriously. The city council has done nothing. They don’t like the word gang and ask the police to not use it. I spoke to the city council Aug 25th about policy failures that have allowed violent crime to be out of control. Now the mayor cares about violent crime?

The frustrating thing for me is the mayor’s sudden demand for addressing the judicial system issue. On August 25th I spoke to the charlotte city council about their immediate release of violent gang members and was told “to talk to the magistrate.” Now she is concerned???

This is my take on all these tech bros - they can no longer compete. They lack the talent, the skills and the knowledge and are constantly outcompeted by younger talent. They are shit tier leaders. So now their only option is to control and diminish others. It won’t work in the long term.

When I lived in Ames for grad school the people were the nicest and kindest on earth. I think that Iowans value tradition, and Fox has hidden the reality of this administration. Trump is the antithesis of Iowa values, of the people I knew.

THIS. we could have a reasonable conversation about how our economy is dependent on deficit spending if they were not trying to broaden the deficit. Neoliberals (Musk) believe in no government, no social support. The markets will magically solve all problems. No guardrails needed.

I agree, but I look at the heroic work of Harvard in saving critical datasets (CEJST, SVI) and they are doing it in a way that preserves data integrity. I also hear you about compliance officers 😂 but I respect mine a lot, they protect us all.

Every scientific compliance officer is having a meltdown with this advice. I hear you BUT there are alternatives, like storing deidentified data in an open source repository or on a secure server in a protected enclave. All universities have them, we can protect data.

Eastern NC too, very MAGA. We had an eastern seaboard grant to improve living shorelines and develop nature-based solutions to support climate resilience. There were startups involved. They (NC MAGA) just F’d themselves.

@lincolnproject.us the MAGA think Musk and Trump are conservatives, can you start educating about neoliberalism? They leverage the religious right to provide cover but they are following the neoliberalism playbook. Conservatives need to wake TF up.
