however, in some rare Intel CPUs, the instruction returns "GenuineIotel". This is because the ASCII codes for "n" and "o" are 110 (0b01101110) and 111 (0b01101111) respectively. somehow, one bit that CPUID reads from was flipped due to a manufacturing error, causing the typo.
the ASCII codes for lowercase N and lowercase O. they are ascii codes 110 and 111, represented in binary as 01101110 and 01101111 respectively.

I think motherboards should, instead of using a soldered pin array, use a land grid array and simply connect to the CPU via a mass-produced plastic-encased grid of double sided pins, like LPCAMM2. immediately fixes the issue of "one broken pin = motherboard destroyed".

Neither the part I printed, the assembly it's part of, or the bike it's for, are sold anymore. but none of that matters because I saved the entire assembly from the trash with the power of a $100 3D printer

put a case on my MacBook
