I was curious whether I'd actually need to study to pass the personal trainer cert or if my ~15 fitness certs, gym bunny-ness, & 500+hr Pilates teacher training were enough, so I signed up for the certification & took a practice test without looking at any of the materials & it turns out mostly yes

![Romance Author Pulls Book After Online Criticism
Romance author Sophie Lark is "pausing" the publication of SPARROW AND VINE and other books in the series after criticism surfaced online, she wrote on Instagram. The first in a planned series, SPARROW AND VINE was due to be published by Bloom Books on April 22.
Early readers noted insensitive lines in the book, spoken by the main character without any pushback or disagreement from other characters or in the text. In one instance, Lark writes, "Shouldn't there be a crew of people with questionable work visas picking these grapes for us?" In another, she writes, "I was inspired by Elon Musk. I use his five step design process."
On Instagram, Lark apologized for "the pain [her] words have caused." She said, "My intention was to craft and demonstrate a flawed main character, but instead, I wrote dialogue that read as attacking to a community I care about very much."
Lark noted that the book underwent sensitivity reads and that Bloom "recommended removing these lines, and [she] made the wrong choice in keeping them." "Please don't blame Bloom for my mistakes," she continued.
She also explained that she wrote the book in summer 2024, and that "some things [she] would write differently now." She plans to re-write the series, she said.

With the writing style & quality of this woman's essay, I'm honestly FLOORED that she said "couldn't care less" instead of the more common but wrong "could care less," because usually these influencer types have really poor English masquerading as fancy English, like using "I" as an object pronoun

"I'm just a humble book girl but also I'm an EXPERT who loves NUANCE & I want to elucidate the difference between books for BABIES & books for ADULT BABIES; anyway here's a book expressly for adults I think should be given to the children I claim to protect." Hello, why not Barry Lyga's book, then?

As someone who was rejected by B&N for "not having relevant experience" when I was just out of fucking LIBRARY SCHOOL & was a popular book blogger, I'd use this as a jumping-off point to discuss how low wage employers expressly avoid hiring competent, qualified people bc they're harder to mistreat
