I had the sudden urge to reread this. First read it when I was a preteen. It certainly isn't the masterpiece I thought it was at that time, but it actually exceeded my low adult expectations, unlike most of the other books I loved during that era and have chosen to reread.

Yearly reading goals are set! I honestly hope I read a lot less this year so that I can distribute my time a little more evenly across my other hobbies.

Some honorable mentions (that on another day could easily be swapped into the top 4 list, depending on my mood).

I read 101 books this year! It was tough to narrow this down, but here's my top 4 of 2024!

Before this year ends, please give me some book suggestions for the upcoming year!

Lisa Jewell has done it again. Nothing gets me out of a reading slump quite like her books. I just can't get enough. They are full of tension, hard to put down, and keep me guessing on every page. Absolutely chefs kiss 🤌

Got the ARC of this just in time for the holidays. It feels like an early Christmas present!

Had to take a break from The Bell Jar because I started to feel the big ol' depression. Picked this up at the library, along with it's counterpart, Sybil Exposed.
I was born too late for the peak in interest of this story, but it's been an interesting read so far!

Currently reading: The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. My lovely friend from the UK was able to get me this beautiful illustrated edition.

I really want to boot up my Tamagotchi and play again, but then I remember I have a job, a toddler, and am a full time student. I think about that beeping - those cries for attention, and know I would not be able to fulfill the little guy's hopes + dreams. So he sadly stays in a drawer.

The experiment lasted but a day (but I swear I'll get back to it! maybe...) because I did indeed read Girl, Interrupted. But if you read a book in one sitting, does it count as reading two books at once? Maybe not!
⭐⭐⭐
This was a strange one. It came across as a very withheld, defensive memoir.

Last year I made a tree ornament that was a jar filled with all the books I had read that year (49 books total). But considering it was already a large and heavy ornament, and the fact that I've read nearly 100 books this year, I don't think I'll be doing it again. Was a cute idea though!

Book mail from today!
Should I (already) break my read-one-book-at-a-time experience to read Girl, Interrupted? I'm so tempted...

My toddler loved Halloween. So much so that he is now obsessed - asks for candy multiple times a day, only wants to be read Halloween books, and goes around saying "Happy Halloween" to everyone he can.

So, Merry Halloween season everyone!

I have always been the kind of person that is reading anywhere from 2-5 books at a time, so I'm going to try a little experiment for the remainder of this year: 1 book at a time! Wish my ADHD brain luck!

I'll continue with this and then circle back to finish Character Limit.

Perhaps one of the most complex and intellectually written memoirs I've ever read. At times I wondered if it was too much, maybe self indulgent in its prose - but as the book will tell you, women have been accused of being such for centuries. It is just the right amount.
