literary oddity; i love storytelling something fierce and always finds the chance to gush about any story i like.

i long gave up on the idea that i might be able to write an epistolary (bcs i get inside my head too much) but i see idris and rozan in my head. they are making noise. the story is alive and changing.

my brain just wouldn't move. plus i've got some work ~

So that now makes Lena McDonald, KC Crowne and Rania Faris leaving ChatGPT prompts in their ‘books’.

I’m so fucking tired, guys. If you don’t write, you’re not a writer. It’s that simple. Stop doing this to your readers, who PAY.

Readers and authors deserve better than this. 📚💙

Yes! Write it anyway
Think the idea’s too big for you? Write it anyway. Your skills will catch up. The only way to tell the story right is to tell it now.

Then again. And again. And again. Each draft gets you closer. Start messy. Start now.

as i was plotting the outline for HITN i realized that the initial idea i had for the opening; the hook; had completely changed. it altered a core need for the character which in turn altered some major plot points

but i am up for the challenge

Testifying here that consistently creating small movements in a creative projects makes the biggest impact. I used to berate myself at how my process is unlike those writers that can sit down and just simply write while my brain demands certain things to be done.

update: i didn't lose the spark. it became a firework. a volcanic eruption.

which is good so i hope to hone in on my disciple to continue showing up for this story ~
i have a goal to draft 10 rough scenes for a story of mine. so far, it's going but there's this brewing feeling in me where i feel like i lost the spark for this story?

anyway, i'll try to reinvigorate that but it means i need to do some massive reading on my previous notes

i'm starting to realize how important themes are in the genesis of my writing process bcs where i root everything

when it comes to writing stories, i tend to approach it with careful deliberation and research—almost standing between obsession and embodiment of my characters and the world they live in.

🌻i like to do some in-depth research; books abt the jobs my characters like to do, their quotidian life.

✍️ Why do films and TV love telling stories about writers?

Because writing is inherently cinematic.

It’s lonely, chaotic, transformative.

It’s one of the few careers where the battle is fought quietly on the page, in the mind, and in the soul.

"It’s messy. It’s painful. It’s beautiful. It’s real. And it’s a story that will stay with you long after the last note fades out."

This is my favorite stories from last year; and honestly, I don't think I am fit to write reviews coz I am just fangirling over them.

"Does the demand for quick consumption reduce poetry’s depth, or does it refine the art of saying more with less?"

I have so much respect towards poets who write so freely, seem to express everything all at once within the confines of meters and numbered lengths of words.
