The BBC swapped objectivity for balance under the current leadership and the previous government and that’s where the rot set in. Objectivity went out the window and politicians were able to spout lies unchallenged, all in the name of balance.

I recently responded to a BBC survey on bias (among other things). The survey concluded that people wanted more “balance”. It reminded me very much of that episode of Yes Minister and Sir Humphrey on surveys.

We’re already in the situation where they have limited those being compensated to a fraction of the author’s whose work was stolen, through the mechanism of US copyright registration.

And embedded in that is the idea that the BBC is a liberal organisation. It only appears so because Conservative politics has drifted so far to the right.
