Just pointing out the law so UK qualified teachers don't assume they can just move over and teach in a state school on a similar basis to here eg salary, pension rights etc. You may also be assigned a post by the authorities and required to teach in a different place to where you would prefer.

They also work very irregular and long hours. It's not an easy life.

Only EU / French citizens are eligible to take the CAPES and teach in the state sector in France as they are employed as civil servants. The private sector is a different matter altogether.
