Meanwhile, somebody broke into the long-closed Marathon station at Dundee & Waukegan. Incredibly, they found something to steal there!
A police report that reads: COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: 11.01.25 0807 800 Block of Waukegan Rd The complainant stated her family owned a gas station that has been closed for several years. While checking on the property, they noticed a shattered window and a door that appeared to have been pried open. Several items inside the closed business were disturbed and graffiti was throughout the floor. Some of the business’s tools had been stolen.

Two items from the weekly police bulletin: RETAIL THEFT: 11.04.25 1355 1000 Block of Willow Rd The loss prevention staff at a hardware store stated on October 30th a female subject stole two propane heaters worth $308.00. When the staff asked the subject to stop, she kept walking to her silver vehicle. She loaded the stolen merchandise and fled the area. RETAIL THEFT: 11.04.25 1540 1700 Block of Lake Cook Rd The general manager of a housewares store stated two subjects walked into the store and grabbed three espresso machines worth $2799.85. They walked out of the store without paying and loaded the stolen merchandise into a black vehicle before fleeing the area.

We got some decent rain totals this morning, but what's with this one gauge out near Shermer & Dundee reporting 7+ inches?

This isn't the first time I've seen this weather station report outrageous numbers. Who operates it?

Text from the weekly police bulletin: THEFT: 07.27.25 1604 1500 Block of Lake Cook Rd Defendant – Posner, Walter B Last Known Address – Northbrook, IL The owner of a business stated she recorded the defendant, Walter Posner, on her surveillance cameras digging up the flowers in front of her business and stealing them. The officers recognized Posner from past incidents and responded to his residence. Posner had replanted the stolen flowers in front of his house and admitted to the crime. He was charged with theft.

Police are blocking Cedar from Cherry to Center, and there are officers on the roof (zoom in).

I saw some people who did not appear to be police going into the library via the stairway off Cherry, so it's open to pedestrians.
