Waikato River, 14.6m height at the Hamilton traffic bridge river level sensor: the boat ramp is closed, on account of basically every bit of path now being river access.

Grantham St boat ramp and car park. There is blue sky and a bare winter tree over a small gathering of signboards about boating regulations. The river level is higher than the top of the ramp, so the signs and tree appear to be standing in the river, and the car park is reflecting the sky in the flood water. There's a traffic cone at the front of the view, indicating that the ramp is closed.

Waikato river bank, looking north under the Bridge St bridge. The river is full up to the edge of a grassy bank, which grows over the edge of geometric blocks that normally form a sheer wall down to the river. A bare winter tree stands in the edge of the water and is reflected in the river.

Looking along the river path outside Waikato Rowing Club. This is a three-storey building, and the top two have balconies overlooking the river next to it. The bottom storey has a series of garage doors set into it, for boats. The river has flooded over the river bank path here, and has reached the bottom of the garage doors.

Apparently it's Worldwide Knitting In Public Day, but I'm not feeling well enough to public, so here's the online version.

Some of the stitches are currently on hold on other circular needles.

Socks I'm currently knitting. DK so they go fast, plus 3x1 rib for gentle foot-hugging. Not sure how durable they'll prove but they will be a triumph of winter resistance anyway.
