When I sit down to write I'm not consciously pulling from my notes, I'm drawing on the 6 months I spent reading biographies, watching hours of interviews, etc. There is a volume of research, of effort & time that is required to create something meaningful to draw from.

Anyone who tells me to use AI for anything and that it’s reliable… Google’s AI just told me a contact left her company ages ago, even though she’s still there.

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.
This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

this may sound like an excuse for procrastination, and sometimes it is, but for real pieces with my heart in them ive learned to build in like 12 to 14 hours of... not-writing
my other annoying piece of advice is that sometimes not writing is writing. like-- rolling an idea around, pacing and fretting, crying, research -- it's all part of the writing. the foreplay before the outburst if you will
