All we ever said was that there is interest from some European governments, which is true. When there is something concrete we’ll be the first to announce it. There is nothing that’s not out there in public in terms of funding or orgs involved.

Hey there, not sure where you got that impression. Some of the folks with Free our Feeds are US based and some are Europe based. Most of the folks involved in Eurosky are Europe-based but of course we collaborate with people in the US, Canada and elsewhere.

Maybe that’s too much for what PDS were designed for and something like that should be built off protocol?

Ha yeah! Too private data can defintely be a problem 😂. I am thinking of PDS as a Google Drive with a public section that feeds all the various ATProto apps and a private section that’s just a cloud drive for all kinds of files with granular sharing features.

Yeah, when there is private data, it could become a substitute

I was thinking of PDS visualized as a drive for the regular user. Is that something you’re thinking of?

But this is exactly the plan @rudyfraser.com - set up shared moderation infrastructure up and running to reduce the cost for everyone. Would be great to chat about your needs. cc @erikologic.bsky.social

I don't know if decoupling as in not suing US platforms is needed. I think choice and real, competitive alternatives are very much needed though.

And for good measure we also talk about how Apple nearly killed webapps because when you have so much power you can do outrageous things.
