It's not *hard* to ensure busses are assigned routes they are capable of running, but someone has to be thinking about it.

Not sure where they stand now, but it was a huge setback and for a while, they pulled all EVs from operation. tl:dr; There's a ton of behind the scenes work that needs to happen for EV adoption that in many places just isn't happening and it's significantly setting us back.

Turns out, they had redone their route assignments and the EVs in their fleet had all been assigned routes longer than their battery capacity allowed. Busses were leaving with 100% SoC, but their route planning wasn't capable of understanding the EV needs.

Fun Story: I work on EV bus infrastructure (Depot-level charging plan management) and a few years back an early transit client was doing a pilot with us. Things were going great until we got an angry email that busses were undercharging and not completing routes...
