Exactly this. It's a common trope among nationalists. It's not about population decline; it's about the "wrong" type of growth. Immigration and higher birthrates among women of color account for more population growth. www.statista.com/statistics/2...

One of the reasons I've seriously scaled back my time on Facebook is because it is so demoralizing to see the mental gymnastics family and friends use to justify anything this administration does.
No matter what the president does my parents go ‘well he must have a reason for it we can’t understand’ it must be awesome to never have to think about anything

I'm shocked, shocked to hear this from the man who reposted a video supporting the idea that women shouldn't vote.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth — decrying “fat generals and admirals” — outlined new rules for the “highest male standard” for fitness in combat roles.

“If that means no women qualify for some combat jobs, so be it,” he told hundreds of military leaders ordered to gather at Quantico for his speech.
Hegseth uses rare meeting of generals to announce new military standards
He warned commanders who don’t support the changes could leave the service.

Induce straight, married, *white* couples to have more children.

The statement "restore the nuclear family" is a dog whistle in that the nuclear family, as commonly understood, has not been the dominant structure in Black communities, where extended family networks are far more common.
👀 NEW: The group behind Project 2025 wants a "Manhattan Project" for more babies.

We have the Heritage Foundation's closely-held draft paper taking a hard turn into "pronatalism."

It pitches ripping up economic policy to induce straight, married couples to have more children.

This is literally what scholars mean when they speak of the fascist ethos of “blood and soil.” It’s adapted from a European context, but it’s the real deal. We’re in it.

This headline…. *sigh*

What a scathing condemnation against American Christianity that Christians coming out in support of feeding the world’s hungry is now considered “surprising”.

Speaking of affective polarization, issues don't matter if you can find something to fire up the base. MAGA using a Black president to do so totally tracks.
Donald Trump seems to recognize that one thing that brings them together is their shared hatred of Democrats like Obama and the free press, and he’s been acting accordingly. And that means that six months into his presidency we’re already in very dangerous territory.

This looks fantastic. Can't wait to dive in.
The HANDBOOK on affective polarization is now out in print ⬇️⬇️

I co-authored a chapter on social sorting (led by @lilymasonphd.bsky.social).

For everyone interested in polarization, there is A LOT to read. A super cool collection of knowledge!

Team dad bod.
This isn’t the female gaze. This is the male gaze. It’s men who are obsessed with the physicality of other men. Women, in the main, would much rather see a man who looks like he’d make himself a stack of buttered toast and let you steal a slice

I realize everything is heavy, but as a mother of a disabled child, I cannot help but feel complete despair over these actions.

Even more upsetting is the knowledge that pro-life family and friends both voted for and continue to support this administration. I just can't...

This is a key strategy among far-right parties: elevate women, even if they have a problematic past, and downplay scandals as no big deal. Both contribute to shifting social norms, making support of far-right parties more socially acceptable.
You’d think the National Rally would be in turmoil after the far-right party’s “de-demonization” campaign was found to have written homophobic, racist and antisemitic comments in a magazine and supported a Belgian Nazi until 2020.

But the response to this news was a collective shrug.
Le Pen ally working to clean up French far right’s image embroiled in racism scandal
But the revelations about Caroline Parmentier’s past writings don’t seem to be hurting the National Rally’s popularity.

I'm watching Aktuelle Stunde on German TV tonight, and they had an entire segment on Rutte's charm offensive. They even interviewed a psychologist to explain why it was the best way to handle Trump. There's a reason Rutte's referred to as the "Trump whisperer"—it works.

People are knocking Noem, but I don't think she's ignorant regarding habeas corpus.
She knows full well.
Like her other publicized stunts, this targets the base, not Congress. The president alone will protect you, come hell or high water (aka judicial rulings and congressional oversight).
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

Oh, good. We’re creating the immigrant hunger games for the entertainment of the white people.
Kristi Noem has been working with the producer of “Duck Dynasty” to pitch a reality TV show—titled “The American”—where immigrants will compete in a string of challenges across the country “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship,” according to a new report.

Q: There are many people who fit the criteria of fleeing persecution. Afghans for example. But they're being denied refugee status. So why such an exception for the Afrikaners?

That's because they don't want babies; they want a particular type of baby. Read between the lines.

While not true of every country that gives out baby bonuses, many, like Italy and Hungary, are highly resistant to immigration.
