I really appreciate this post, but have some disagreements. I think there is a much bigger division that needs to be taken into account, "Lore Discovery" (deduction/database/language) vs "Mechanics/Rule Discovery" (e.g. witness/tunic/leap day). I think LoreDisco and MechDisco are good names.

Strongly agreed, I think Tunic's developer did it best when he said he built the game around *secrets* and the feeling of "THIS WAS HERE ALL ALONG!?"

I'll also include The Witness, Type Help, 12 Word Searches. I like "Revelation Games" or "Discovery Games".

nitpick: nobody writes it "metroidbrania", everyone writes "metroidbrainia" instead. compare google results or itch tag uses (itch.io/games/tag-me...) vs (itch.io/games/tag-me...)

Happy birthday! Is it okay to call it your x 3/4th birthday, or is 9/12th more healthy?

Blendo Games continued using jump cuts in their other games too! Quadrilateral Cowboy and Skin Deep were both great.

Neat gameplay and nice dev log!
Is this going to be an "Information Game", as you call it? Certainly much of it would have to be outside the combat mechanics, but I can see it tying to combat too if you add secret techniques or discoverable edge cases (e.g. bonus if you sync lobbed cast with melee)

I moved to Finland (apparently the #1 country for babies to survive their first year) and was very surprised to hear that parents regularly let their babies sleep outside in winter, inside a stroller, in sub-zero temperatures. Apparently it lets them safely get used to the cold!

Were there any inspirations you remember being specifically connected to the class keying off Charisma, rather than being wizardy? My guesses were practitioners from Pact & Pale, and also "named" characters from APGTE, both from worlds where narrative is a concrete force in the universe.
