They really only touch on the sides. I’ve worn them for hours at a time - they are VERY light. They can irritate the top/front of my ears after a while, but I can usually scooch them around a bit to alleviate that.

I had a plush “bigfoot” that I named “Malcolm Sasquatch.” I kept him they leaving home, years of moves with the Army, and the upheaval after my divorce, but he disappeared sometime in my late 20s. I still miss “Bigsie.” He looked something like this.
