No, I get you! That’s definitely a discussion I have with every client. While it’s not my typically my jam, I am signing up a client for their career (long term I always hope) and not just based off of one title. That’s why you can always submit a different ms to me and same for my agency mates.

It’s unfortunately very rare for me to enjoy a secondary world high fantasy book. I’m definitely more of a grounded fantasy girlie and it’s what I tend to read more of when I have time/energy to read for fun

But I definitely am looking for those other elements in fiction.

They really are! I honestly think it’s due to the fact that the gut just impacts so much throughout our bodies including our heads because I keep having rough headaches

There can be a conflict of interest if someone claiming to be an agent is also offering editorial services to prospective clients. Likewise for any schmagency or vanity “pub” that asks you for money to pub your books. Money always flows to the author. We (typically but not always) work on commission

Check to see where they’ve worked prior. Have they been in-house or at another agency? Where at? How long? Have they only been freelance? If so, red flag. Are the book deals to only a certain editor or publishers? That could be a red flag. writerbeware.blog is a great resource as well

…let alone after a couple of years of only doing freelance editing and no in-house work at all. There’s so many schmagents and schmagencies out there. Be careful y’all

Hi! It would be best to wait. I had the form open for 2 weeks as it stated in an effort to catch up on my remaining queries. I’ll always post when I’ll be opening back up.
