Santa Barbara No Kings 2. Waiting for crowd estimate but compared to NK 1: Bigger, broader age distribution, signs less playful, more emphatic, angrier. No counter protests, happy crowd in sidewalk, helpful cops blocking traffic. Coastal California!

Did the Social Security Administration really send me this partisan, misleading email applauding the passage of a destructive piece of GOP-only legislation? Where am I living? What happened to the professional civil service that we all counted on? They won’t answer the phones but they’ll lobby?

Let me elaborate a little. The Douglas border crossing is part of my life. I grew up in Surrey, the BC community right on the border, and marched in a ceremony as a Brownie (I was maybe 6?) at the Peace Arch at the crossing. It is a symbol of US-Canada friendship and I grew up with it.
