All people and groups involved in protecting the environment could have come together and put forward a green candidate or at least someone passionate about the damage being done to wildlife. But neither of these candidates will have any influence sitting in the Áras

I think Geldof was joking / tongue in cheek when he said he "would have walked it." He said he wouldn't have had the time to campaign, plus his family, work, etc. are in London. So how could he have stayed in the Áras for 7 years?

We need a green revival. Someone needs to be in charge and reverse the catastrophic decline of native species of both vegetation and wildlife

Me too! I never knew the name and bought it this year ... it had stopped flowering a month ago so I moved it to a corner in the back.... obviously it liked the move!
