Saw Eline Arbo’s sublime adaptation of Annie Ernaux’s The Years on Sat -cheapest seat in the rafters, furthest I could be & still it reached me - a whole embodied life joyous pain, time flitting, the smears of blood across the sheets, desire, past & future. I loved the book & this took it & flew.

I went to the last day of the Raymond Briggs exhibition at ditchling museum yesterday. All the drawings and sketches and layers of care taken. All the grief and love. The masterpiece of When the Wind Blows. Heart cracked at the short video of him at home on his crumpled sofa.

Spent every weekend at this excellent club aged 17-19 then watched the sun come up on Stokes Croft smoking. This used to be blue tacked to my bedroom wall. Portal to the past. Eyes closed, bass in my chest, soaked in sweat. #bristol

Went to the The 80’s: Photographing Britain last night at the Tate. Spent a long time looking at the small selection of pictures from Greenham Common. I was there as a small child.

Went to Van Gogh ‘Poets and Lovers’ at the National Gallery & despite the hoards it was extraordinary. The colours just 🤯every painting bursting out the frame.

Happy & surreal night at my old gaff last night as Battersea Arts Centre turned 50. Like going through the back of a wardrobe to find hundreds of people from another decade of your life. Lost my voice shouting ‘OMG it’s you.. ‘ on repeat 😂 Building looked stunning.
This knocked me sideways - her empathy and imagination - such moving writing. Just ordered her collected works. Thanks to Claire Fuller who recommended it on one of her blogs.
