I’ve started reading Milton Mayer’s ‘They Thought They Were Free’ and 🤯. Mayer (a German-Jewish American) embedded himself in postwar German society for two years, to learn why / how ordinary Germans supported Hitler so fervently. The screenshot is from his introduction.
