Suddenly I'm seeing EVs all over the place! Are we at an inflection point that survives the end of federal subsidies? Colorado is 1st in sales of BEVs (blue dots) and PHEVs (orange) combined, at 31%. Charging infra has kept up: 84% of our 9K road miles have fast charging capability w/in 30 miles.

Rode the California Zephyr from Denver to Glenwood Springs this week. And just as they say, the scenery was breathtaking

Know someone who wants to expand their car-free travel throughout Colorado? I'm hosting a 'dry run' on Oct 11 to show how easy it is. We'll take the G Line from Olde Town to Union Station, make an easy transfer to Bustang and then head to Idaho Springs. Let me know interest and I'll send details.

Colorado’s network of fast chargers now covers 83% of its highways. Now “…visitors headed to Mesa Verde or the Four Corners or driving the Trail of the Ancients Scenic Byway will know they can quickly recharge their electric vehicles..." :)

In honor of my mother’s birthday (she would have been 93 this week), a snippet of a letter from my grandfather in 1990. Right out of Grapes of Wrath.

A most moving commemoration. Always the plea: Slow down, move over, *protect* the folks maintaining your roadways. 64 people have lost their lives working in CDOT’s regions.

How good is this?? The Arvada (CO) Gardeners (a 58 year-old community garden), a certified Bike Friendly Business in Arvada, has partnered with Bike Friendly Arvada to host bike valet parking at last weekend's Kite Festival. Here’s how it went. 📸: Bill Orchard

I agree! Here’s another photo with a station agent, similarly classy. And a big hanging basket to welcome folks to town. :)

Fun fact: The G Line Station canopy in Olde Town Arvada echoes the roofline of the historic train depot at this site. The design was the request of the City’s Gold Line advisory committee and neighbors. A great example of the melding of past and present that you see all around the district.

My friend Jack passed away a couple of years ago. Among his things are literally thousands of tickets and other mementos of things he’d seen or done. He savored the memories. I can’t throw them away; that’s his *life* there! But what to do with them, besides stow in a box in the basement. Ideas?

Researching TOD near the G Line and see that there are 3,400 units of dense housing that have been built very near its stations--and another 1,000 or so underway (these mainly at 41st and Fox.) Olde Town has 1,400. From a terrific RTD report. cdn.rtd-denver.com/image/upload...

On Presidents Day weekend, how great to know folks can ride the Winter Park Express instead of dealing with this.

Interesting clouds this afternoon! From the Olde Town Arvada train platform.

Deer outside an Evergreen town hall this morning. At one point they were right outside a window in the room, just like they were peering in to see what was going on :)

So great to see CDOT, and a number of CDOT employees and contractors (including Heather Paddock as person of the year!) recognized at the 2025 WTS Colorado awards luncheon. Also recognized: the Centerra Loveland Mobility Hub, and the US50 Blue Mesa emergency repairs. You go!

Pretty remarkable slide from the 2023 Congestion Report presented at yesterday’s @drcog.bsky.social RTC meeting. More thank triple ridership since 2019–now at 15K+ daily!

I’m having trouble finding an HVAC person to install an HRV heat recovery ventilator in my ADU. (It should have been part of the initial design and build in 2010, but wasn’t. My fault.) Any recommendations? TIA!

Heads up: The next open houses for Colorado's Mountain Rail effort have been set. The Denver metro-area meeting is 5:30 - 7:30p on December 11 at Storyline Church, W. 64th Ave., Arvada. Looking forward to more info on stations and other service development particulars! codot.gov/proje…
