Ezra Klein’s podcast has helped me feel more grounded/less panicked, despite him reporting what’s going on. He provides some context and perspective that is helpful and has experts on (from both sides of the aisle).

Absolutely. Maybe it comes down to the motive as to why we warn/deter others from reading certain people. I’m with you on this, I think.

If I had listened to church leaders I was “under,” years ago, I never would have considered reading Eric Mason (love him). You know? There has to be some type of acknowledgement that congregants will branch out and I guess a letting go of any desire of control for the sake of tribalism/conformity.

I’ve been in circles where reading any authors or theologians who aren’t personally vetted by another well-accepted, semi-famous theologian is considered dangerous. Very sad. Very glad you + your church are operating differently!
