Amongst all the bad we see my pink berried rowan tree outside my window gives me great pleasure. The leaf colours of autumn are magical. Each season offers something new and every year we watch the progress of plants.

@almurray.bsky.social and James Holland- found this photo amongst others taken by my dad at the end of the war. He started in 7th A&SH but ended his service in Egypt with REME. He’s written the date on the original photo but it gives an idea of the headlines on the day - & it’s importance to him.

Sun is very bright but even with the blind down we can enjoy the birds. Mostly robins and blue tits who have nested in the garden for the last two years.

It would have been my mum’s birthday last Tuesday 11th and it was a special moment when our first granddaughter was born on that day. I think my mum would be very proud of her.

One of the loveliest walks, up by the Hermitage at Dunkeld. A lovely way to spend a Saturday. Have you been there?

@gordoncorera.bsky.social I’ve heard you talk about Winkie and you have maybe seen this article before. I knew George Ross & his wife Rose v well as they were part of my childhood. George was extremely proud of Winkie and told me as a child all about his medal.

A page from a sketchbook started while we were in Gairloch on holiday last month. Nearly all the pages are inspired by the rock formations found all over the area.

With all the horror happening around us I thought I’d share a photo of some of the sketchbooks my students created this past weekend. Layers of Landscape, walking through memory.

We’re very lucky here in Angus to have several Neolithic sites. This is my 5yr old granddaughter exploring one of them in the summer holidays.

As a first photo of my work here is a detail of a piece that I produced for my exhibition Memory of Place: A walk in time. All the work was a reflection of personal memory and a specific location in Scotland’s north west Highlands. It’s an area of crofting and where I spent childhood holidays.
