in celebration of somehow writing 1k words in two hours today, here's a portion of a totally different #zosan WIP

will i ever finish a fic again? who knows!

Sanji’s body aches as he gasps into the rocks against his cheeks. He knows he’s been knocked out but has no gauge for how long. As he pulls himself off the ground, a lightning-sharp shock of pain emanates from his ribs.
You’ll have to find another cook—
He wobbles to his feet, knees trembling. Asshole, he thinks before his heart clenches.
Zoro.
Pushing away the burning of his lungs, Sanji scrambles up the rock, scanning for any signs of life.
“Marimo!” He hollers, throat feeling raw and torn. With his already-blurry vision and all the debris, it’s hard to see much of anything.
He calls out again, but as he takes a step forward, his foot slips, and he’s sent tumbling down to the ground. Sanji lays there for a second, coughing wetly at the sudden impact to his chest.
With his cheek to the dirt again, he catches sight of a patch of grass overtop a boulder a few feet away. He’s about to let his eyes close when the grass suddenly starts to sway.
Sanji finds the strength to pull himself up and over the rocks. A wave of relief washes over him as Zoro’s back comes into view.
You’ll have to find another cook—
A burning fury boils in his chest as Sanji closes the distance between them and begins to yell.
“Listen, Asshole, why the fuck did you think—” the insurmountable amount of blood seeping through Zoro’s torn shirt as he turns around makes Sanji pause. There are gashes all over his body, blood still seeping from some of the cuts, chest stuttering as he heaves each breath.

Sanji’s anger dissipates as he stumbles toward him, reaching a hand to his cheek. “Darling, what happened?”
Zoro sinks into the touch. His eyes look foggy and vacant.
“Nothing—nothing happened.” he grunts.
Sanji’s eyebrows furrow, though his fingers are still soft on Zoro’s sweat-damp skin. “You’re bleeding out, Dipshit. Sit down and tell me what the fuck happened, so I can help you.” Now that he’s up close, he can see just how pallor Zoro is. His skin is dull, caked in blood, sweat, and dirt.
Zoro shakes his head, trembling under Sanji’s touch, eyes barely open. “Don’t need help,” he slurs as his knees seem to weaken, “nothing happened.”
The sharp gasped inhale is the only notice Sanji gets before Zoro’s body crumples. He’s lucky they’re so close that he only stumbles a little bit under the sudden dead weight.
His eyebrows shoot up as Zoro collapses into him. Smacking his cheeks, Sanji stutters, “Zoro?” He tries again, a little harder this time, as panic starts to set into his bones. “Baby, this isn’t funny.”
His skin feels electric, and the heart lodged in his throat is the only thing keeping the bile down.
“Okay,” Sanji wheezes, pulling Zoro’s knees over his forearms and lifting, “okay, let’s get you to Chopper, huh?” Under any other circumstance, he’d relish the thought of parading Zoro around in a bridal hold, but right now Sanji can’t feel anything. His face feels numb and his legs like molasses as he cradles over two hundred pounds of pure muscle mass into his chest.
“Chopper!” Sanji screams as hard as his vocal chords will let him. As his lungs begin to feel like they’re filling with molten liquid, he wails until his voice breaks. “Chopper!”
His feet drag across the rocks in the direction of the castle. His elbows start to tremble

under the weight. Breathing is starting to get harder. Later. He'll deal with it later.
“Sanji!” It’s Nami’s voice that drifts over the clearing. “Chopper’s setting up a room inside the castle. Is Zoro okay?”
Sanji shakes his head. “I dunno. I dunno, I can’t—he needs help!” He can’t tell if his voice waivers because of the stress or his lack of breath.
Nami meets him halfway. “Robin went to get—” gasping when she gets close enough to see the dripping blood, she jumps back. “Is he breathing?”
The question makes Sanji freeze. He hadn’t thought to check. He watches as his palm shakily presses into the side of Zoro’s ribs, trying to ignore the feeling of cracked bones moving under the pressure. Staring at his hand, he wills the mass under it to move, but it doesn’t. He can’t even feel the beat of a heart.
“He’s—he’s not—” Sanji falls to his knees. “He’s not breathing. Zoro’s not breathing. He’s not—he—”
His vision starts to shake, and his head feels loud all of a sudden. He can’t hear anything but a loud ringing and the racing of his heart. He feels his forehead pulse behind his eyes.
Everything is silent as Sanji moves to touch Zoro’s earrings, fingers sticky with blood and grime. The world feels like it’s splitting in two, like there are opposite centres of gravity fighting for him to fall their way.
A soft hand on his back and another stroking his hair are what bring him back.
“Sanji, let go of Zoro.” Robin whispers from beside him. He doesn’t know when she got there. Her voice is echoey and distant, despite being able to see the tips of her shoes from the corner of his tear-filled eyes.
He frantically shakes his head, readjusting his grip on him. “I can’t. I can’t move. I can’t.”

She crouches next to him, cupping his cheeks and dragging them to face her. His eyes never leave Zoro’s face despite the strain at this angle. Sanji just presses his lips together, jaw clenched, shaking his head and making hummed noises in distress. His face feels like it’s on fire.
“The longer he goes without breathing, the worse it’ll be.” Sanji hears Chopper say from behind him. It sounds like he’s flicking something.
Robin grimaces before sprouting a hand to move the hair out of his eyes. “Sanji."Her thumb strokes his exposed forehead. “Sanji, look at me.” Her voice is soft but carries enough weight that Sanji tears his eyes from Zoro.
“I’m going to cover your eyes, and when I count to three, you’re going to let out all the tension in your muscles with one big breath, okay?”
He can only muster a half-hearted nod.
God knows how many more hands Robin summons, but he counts four: two over his eyes, one on his forehead, and another that rubs circles below his shoulder blades. She taps his brow softly. “One, two, three, let go.”
Sanji releases all the air from his lungs, letting his shoulders fall, muscles relaxing as he feels his sitting bones sink into the ground. For a moment, he feels calm, but a pinch at his lower back has his eyes shooting open.
He jerks away, but there are too many of Robin’s hands holding him down for him to get anywhere. “Fighting will only make it more painful. You’ll succumb to the effects in the end.” She says as she continues to sooth the wrinkle in his brow. “Let go.”
As his vision begins to blur, heart pounding so hard that he feels it in his throat, he feels like he’s underwater. Everything sounds muffled and far away, as if he’s listening to everything through a wall.
Sanji feels the muscles in his neck give in, head rolling back to hit the knob of his spine.

snippet of a 30yo! #zosan WIP

in which the crew land on an island during their annual love/affection festival, and sanji gets left a gift or two by an unknown source~~

“What’s got you all perky, Curly?”
Freezing in his stride, Sanji turns around to find Zoro lounging in a lawn chair, surrounded by at least six empty bottles of wine. He considers biting at the swordsman, but he’s in too good of a mood to do so.
“If you must know, it seems I got a little gift for the festival.” He tries not to beam.
Zoro’s eye moves to the bouquet, then back to Sanji. “So you got a bunch of flowers from some stranger, so what? You can’t even eat them.”
Sanji gently presses the flowers to his chest as he scoffs. “It’s nice to be shown a little appreciation sometimes. Not that I’d expect you to understand.”
He thumbs at the card tied to the stems with string. The card is made of thick, beige card stock, lined with a blue metallic ribbon to border the edges. It couldn’t have been cheap.
Zoro grunts, crossing his arms over his chest. “You know you’re valued, Cook. We’ve been over this.”
Sanji hadn’t really looked at it before, but now he can see that the letters of his name aren’t handwritten, rather stamped with a dark blue ink. The i in his name is smudged at the bottom, as if the person hadn’t given the ink enough time to dry. The smudge isn’t even, though. There’s a small circle of dried water around it, making it look like they’d tried to clean it up with an eraser, then with a wet cloth.
The thought makes Sanji’s insides melt.
“I know, but this is different.” He mumbles. “It’s nice to believe someone could like me, even if it’s just for this festival.”
He doesn’t know why he says it. Why he admits that he’s not entirely convinced this isn’t a sick prank. Sure, he and Zoro have become closer, especially since Wano—some might even call them good friends. They’ve come to confide in each other, to lean on each other as Wings and as crewmates, but Sanji tries his best to keep the hopelessness of his withering love life on the down-low.
Maybe the gooeyness in his chest let it slip out.

The maintenance guy is coming tomorrow so I had to move all my figures off my bookshelf in case he had to paint behind it and I put all of them together which I think looks really silly lol
