I'm starting to see your perspective thanks to this interview with Ezra Klein:

I simply wasn't aware of the full reality of Charlie Kirk's negative qualities; I was much more aware of the times he was well-mannered and civil. Thank you for pushing back.

“It” being the “victimhood industry”.

What Coates wrote above is not even remotely a cogent or valid argument. I agree it’s on the right but also the left. What is this political exceptionalism on more general personality matters? That divide itself is, well, divisive!

“tu quoque” fallacy

Flowery but informally illogical.

We can get into the cognitive formalism. But I don’t see how Coates could have a heartfelt position there, one befitting the nature of man.

Some people simply ride the coattails of victimhood industries…

Therefore, please use the Google Doc linked above as a subject of evaluation if deemed of unique value to the problem-space in question.

Regarding the computer science debate of solving versus verifying, I am firmly on the side of verifying solutions as more efficient for cognition in the long-run. Learning science supports higher-order learning at the meta-analytical level with high probability (chatgpt.com/share/689911...).

It was assumed in the work that a Palestinian identity is unique with respect to Arab and religious identity; so a cultural-secular democracy would be the best option for self-determination of the Palestinians.

Here is the document with calculations at the end:

Or I should say an illegal use of land (rather than “settlement”).

But within Israel’s internationally agreed-upon boundaries, I don’t believe boycotting their universities does any favors to the humanity we try to protect on principle.
July 29, 2025 at 5:32 PM
That’s a different case, an illegal settlement — according to the standards of international law by which we hold a political generality of human rights.

Frankly, I don't think educational isolationism is ever the way to go; it becomes a form of collective punishment in itself.

One suggestion is to try to curb population numbers in general, especially of tourists who take potential housing from residents, with a tourist tax as in Venice, Italy. Then use that revenue to methodically curb violence at the peaks before introducing public housing projects.

The larger worry is that public housing units in the US may suffer if issues of violence (at the peaks) are not first solved.

Clarifying to say the least!

Gold comes up for me in the context of neutron star mergers but never magnetar flares. So thank you for rescuing me from a case of suppressed evidence!
