it hurt, but it helped in the long run i think. now i know for sure they’re resting at least a little easier than they would’ve on the road, and having to pass them every time i went to work and seeing them deteriorate would destroy me

i stopped on my way home from work, protected my hands with plastic shopping bags, and moved them out of the road onto the grass. i burst into tears when i got back into my car, cried the whole way home, and still am 20 mins later
