While in Charleston, I met Marcus, community activist + tour guide. I loved the intersections of his work. He’s studied the history of his community to share it and is committed to advancing it as well. Super honored to share my first for Scalawag Magazine: scalawagmagazine.org/2025/03/marc...

Traveling parents! For a national story, I’m looking for someone with 2+ kids to share anecdotes from their trips and give strategies on how they make it work. (I love my fellow travel writers/content creators, but I’d prefer someone who doesn’t work in the industry.)

The death of President Carter really feels like the end of an era for our country. My family visited his national historic park in Plains, Ga a couple months ago. You can hear audio recordings of him discussing his upbringing at his childhood home.

The Food Section's 2024 Annual Report is live! Main takeaway: I could have stayed on Substack as long as that platform lasts, writing for 650 people and earning $45K a year. Instead, I built a media organization with its own site, daily newsletters, nine correspondents, and events across the South.

I understand editors might not believe in astrology, but readers (especially young readers) do! It’s exploded in popularity, check TikTok for proof. I’m ready to see more articles on it, and see it taken seriously, whether as a fun trend or a divination tool.
