They lived behind us half a block down, apparently Boots was famous on that side of the block for making his daily rounds going up stairs and fire escapes and in and out of people's houses scrounging food.

When we lived in SF one of our carts went out the window and down the fire escape on a daily basis. One time we were in a neighborhood bar talking about the cat and a total stranger goes, "Wait, is Bootzilla your cat?!"
