Home sweet home again to finish out recovery

Gonna call this my YOLO knee. My incision is a giant “Y” over my knee 😂

Healing well, managing to start to get by on mostly Tylenol and ibuprofen 💚 but man my right leg hates being the sole taker of my weight ☠️ it was always my worst knee before my dog smashed into me and dislocated the left
My left leg in a fancy brace that has a hinge in the knee joint that’s locked in extension mode, 4 straps across the top, and an “ice” pack that’s fed by cold water from an attached cooler you put ice water in. It is propped up on a pillow

Today I did some much needed #planttherapy - I started to set up my #greenhouse in my new #garden area and pot my sprouts from my seedling tray

More plants sprouting from the rockwool has me so excited! Also, I planted a sprouting potato several weeks ago and it’s now poking up! Didn’t think that would actually work considering it’s in a Home Depot bucket with a door dash insulated bag overtop 😂

Looked up from my computer doing some CE work, as I’m secretly also an RVT (shhh), and got a nice view of a new friend who must have moved in nearby recently

Good afternoon lovelies! If you have my book and flip to page 18, you'll see my favorite poem I have ever written, "Haunting Melodies"

I wrote this particular poem sometime around the end of junior year/beginning of senior year of high school.

The beginning of the poem, Haunting Melodies, by Shayne Nicholai: "haunting melodies floating through my head so many different tunes all meshed together as one. hands flow up and down a piano so smoothly across the white and black releasing the soul that belongs to the owner of those hands. different songs, different beats so many tempos in my mind yet eerily all are of the same type sad and slow, soft and mellow. fingers plucking a sweet melody out of the strings of a guitar" the poem continues for several more pages

Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn't do anything• "Are you feeling all right?" I asked her. "I feel all sleepy," she said. In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead. The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was twenty-four years ago in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her. On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunised against measles. ROALD DAHL
