Here to witness the continuing balkanization of online culture. Echo chambers galore!

Trump sucks, voted for Kamala, and I'm critical of much of progressive and leftist spaces for...so many reasons

OK, but...do you agree with this idea? If you don't, then you must conclude that his death by a gun is a bad thing. If you think his ideas are bad, saying that he got a comeuppance would be to tacitly agree with the bad opinion. A person with bad ideas was killed. That's bad.

This response seems to imply that you dont understand what journalism is all about.

The NYT, despite it's flaws, does good work. Do they has biases? Yes. Are they anti-trans? Only if by that one means to be at all skeptical of trans activist views.

The truth is hard to figure out.
June 6, 2025 at 8:53 PM
No, I'm disagreeing with them. I'm listening, hearing, understanding, and saying that I hear you and I disagree.

Also, why are you refusing to listen to any journalism just because it might not suit you?

I've listened to various sides on this issue; for, against, and nuanced. Have you?
June 6, 2025 at 7:38 PM
because that isn't how anything works.
I'm aware of the existence of standpoint theory, but I think it has limitations as an epistemological foundation.
Also, trans isn't a monolith, and they have all sorts of opinions on different sides of the issue. I'm sure many trans people like the podcast.
June 6, 2025 at 7:30 PM
What's crazy about the comments here is that the podcast was largely pro-trans, yet the comments here are as if it was all slurs and gender-critical types spouting off.
Have they listened? and yet have judged is literally prejudice.
Turns out, even the willingness to ask the questions is transphobic
June 6, 2025 at 6:55 PM
I guess not.

And this is the problem. You're so sure that you are correct that anyone who disagrees is dismissed.

I grew up in the progressive world, and know it as well as I know anything. So I should know when I'm wasting my time. I used to be the same way. Anyway, have a nice weekend.

I just don't see it as a civil rights movement. I see it as an inflexible ideological movement posing as a civil rights movement. And is is absolutely your fault that it isn't popular.

Maybe allow the mere possibility that your demands aren't always rational nor always based on good ideas?
June 6, 2025 at 4:22 PM
Further, my point is that you seem to be one of the type who is convinced that you are right that you never allow anyone to disagree without calling everyone racist, bigot, etc. Even if you were right, this way of talking is just not going to convince anyone (and it's possible you aren't right).
June 6, 2025 at 4:01 PM
My concern is with truth. Many of the ideological commitments by many people in this new "civil rights movement" are worthy of questioning. Groups such as this are doing so because these ideas aren't popular, and many of us on the left disagree with SOME of the methods and convictions.
June 6, 2025 at 4:01 PM
So, in other words, you have made up your mind before the thing has even happened. If that is the basis for a civil rights movement, then it's a bad epistemological underpinning, and so it is likely to come up with a lot of bad ideas and solutions.

Something to meditate on.
June 6, 2025 at 3:41 PM
I think it will create an opportunity for Democrats to become exposed to more ideas. If those ideas are, in fact, racist etc, then that discussion will find that out. Categorizing ideas not already in your bubble as inviting bigotry into your midst is, frankly, prejudice.

Give it a chance, maybe?
June 6, 2025 at 2:31 PM
and, of course, all sides will see this as being an argument for their particular set of beliefs.

The goal should to to be able to understand what all sorts of chains feel like, in an attempt to be able to be free from any potential new chains you haven't yet been held by.

I know little to nothing about Portnoy or his Barstool businesses, but this seems like a good response to me.
May 6, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Ha! Yup. Nothing but hate for my trans landlord and jerking off to Elon tweets for me. you got me pegged.

Thanks for entertaining me on my way home today. Bye now.
April 11, 2025 at 7:42 PM
I have no idea what Elon says on X (why all the dead-naming?), because I think he's a bag of dicks. Do you actually think you are coming across looking good?

I'm long past caring what I look like, so meh.
April 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Oh, sweet summer child, I really dislike Elon. I also really hate Trump. Way to assume you understand me based upon tribalistic narratives. Perhaps it's time to consider that maybe, just maybe, you don't actually know much.
April 11, 2025 at 7:23 PM
Hey, either I'm stupid, in which case "retard" is my word and I'm allowed to say it, or you calling me stupid is just means to dismiss me without actually dealing with what I may think. And yes, I like Jesse Sigal.nice guy, interesting thoughts.

Nice o of being kind, again.
April 11, 2025 at 7:18 PM
And you seems like a sweet, sheltered, "right-thinking" person who has never stepped outside your echo chambers. Touch grass.

I grew up among progressives. I know your type. I see through you.
