And we should probably remember that it is literally impossible to remain current in the reading space. I could read 50 books in a genre tomorrow, and I'd be out of date by the end of the first week of December...

I follow a guy on YT named Jared Henderson, and he has done a bunch of videos on the value of slowing down, building your reading stamina, etc. Your note on the scale of reading made me think of that. I get the impulse to read a LOT but I also think part of that comes out of a FOMO mindset.

I hate it for the same reason I hate Michael Todd's "under the table" style, which he still sorta does today (though rules changes have made that less pronounced, thankfully).

To me, this is a completely normal view of healthcare, food, housing, etc. This is just doing the right thing.

It's also what progress should look like in this country. We're so insanely wealthy. We could have the greatest social safety net humanity has ever conceived. Yet we don't.

This is possibly the nerdiest thing I have seen you write about. And I mean that in the nicest way.

I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but I think if you're a major media convention and one of your guests/participants/attendees is assaulted, you'd use every ounce of your power to make sure that the assaulter is brought to justice and banned forever.
