Part One of my angry at the CBC email that reads: “Comments about Canada becoming the 51st state” with an American co-host? A hostile foreign leader threatening to illegally annex Canada is not a topic that should be out for an “open discussion”. Our sovereignty isn’t a debate or thought experiment; they’re not just “comments”. Normalizing this insane rhetoric, these direct threats to our country (as the only way this “51st State” garbage is possible is through invasion and occupation) as part of a “Sunday, both-sides conversation” is disgusting, and frankly naïve. At best, this program is going to give fuel to American state/Trump-donor controlled media to drive this illegal concept forward using out of context clips that sound favourable to the idea. Or maybe you’re excited about getting some of the 10% of the Canadian fringe-right, or MAGA themselves, to call in so they can just do the propaganda for you. Part two of my angry email to the CBC: Perhaps you’ll just continue to aid and abet those who are trying to shift the Overton window to normalize illegal annexation as a concept (as has already begun on C-SPAN, using your program, *before* it airs). At worst you’re directly and (it appears to me) intentionally laying groundwork for the undermining of Canadian sovereignty. “I’m going to go to your house and take it over for myself. Let’s have a free and open conversation about my “proposal” with folks from both sides” Do you see how ridiculous this sounds? Framing and words matter. I had imagined that sometime in the 88 years the CBC has existed, that may have become apparent at some point. Honestly, I’m embarrassed that I’ve defended the CBC so ardently… if this is the level of thought and integrity going forward, I won’t be making that mistake again. Part three of my angry letter to the CBC (with some overlap because... I'm kinda wanting to get off my phone now) I’ve defended the CBC so ardently… if this is the level of thought and integrity going forward, I won’t be making that mistake again. Do better. (But I expect you won’t) Also, I acknowledge that I’m sending this to someone who didn’t make these decisions, but I’m mad at the organization, and this is the link I was sent to express that.

Finally got to see Inu-Oh tonight, and what a strange and magical delight this anime rock opera is.

The plot is thin (as it's essentially a loose mythical/magical realist version of forgotten historical events), but frankly who's watching a rock opera for the plot 😆
