Waiting for an Uber/Lyft at ATL airport takes forever

I have been waiting longer than the actual ride home

I’m a lifelong Star Trek fan & love Michelle Yeoh, but I couldn’t get past 16 minutes of Section 31.

The USAF removed Tuskegee Airmen & Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII from basic training curriculum. For 30 years I promised these women I would not let them ever be forgotten again. We worked for decades to have them remembered. The Airmen too. Knowledge is power. 🗃️ www.msn.com/en-us/societ...

NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

Ok journalists, health journalists: what’s next? I’m a bit freaked out about losing access to data that we use to do our jobs. #healthjournalism

This entire thread is worth reading but I chose to quote this. If you have elders who worked in the Civil Rights Movement, glean their knowledge. We need their wisdom to endure what’s ahead. We need the strength of community and the foundation of our history.
A lot of that information. One thing that we truly need to do going forward is build community, and I don't just mean pumping out e-content, I mean actual community where we can learn from the elders that we still do have because if you don't know where you came from, then you won't know where

This week I have been so proud of my colleagues at Found Health for putting together this effort to help our members in Los Angeles who need plus size and mid-size clothing.

(This campaign is just for our members; I don’t want to create confusion. I’m just a proud employee.)

If you are friends or family with journalists covering the fires in LA, please check in on them now and in the months ahead.

Like first responders, they are burying all the trauma they’re seeing up close now to focus on doing journalism as a public service.

This is hard work.

Ok here’s my question: I get leaving Meta platforms now that they’re dropping a commitment to truth.

But lot of small businesses and startup founders use these platforms to test ideas and connect with customers, and I want to support small business. What alternatives are there?

What news sources are you relying on for truth, accuracy and balanced reporting going forward? I’m a former journalist and I’m frustrated with the state of things. I need truth to keep me upright.

On my list so far: Philly Inquirer & The Guardian. What else?

A nation is be judged not by on how it exults its bullies and strongmen, but how it treats its most vulnerable. Like Japanese Americans, the trans community never did anything to deserve the kind of hatred and targeting they have received.

We have a moral obligation to stand by them now. /4

Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens.

Don’t think it won’t happen again when they come for the “undocumented.”

A study just published in NEJM shows tirzepatide (brand names Mounjaro & Zepbound) can effectively help people with prediabetes & obesity avoid progression to type 2 diabetes even after they stopped taking it.

The practical part is awareness. 8 out of 10 people who have prediabetes don’t know it.
