I agree in comparison to Europe, China and Japan, U.S. mass transit infrastructure sucks but it's a choice. I grew up in New York and it's one of the few cities where mass transit is fairly good. It might take you a while to get from Jamaica, Queens to Coney Island but you can do it in one train!
