⚠️ Energy bills in the UK are too high for homes and businesses. Energy companies are doing all they can, but the Government needs to act to #BringDownBills. 🔎 For more on potential solutions and how to get involved, check out our #BringDownBills hub 👉 buff.ly/X1IAjHo

Our economies need energy to run. Wind and solar are cheap, abundant sources of energy. They will never run out. They are almost miracles. Whichever country dominates in turbines and solar PV will become the most economically important. Right now, that's China.

Lots of talk about what did or didn’t happen at #PMQs today, but how often does it land on the opening day of a major international tournament, and not one MP, Minister, or even the PM wishes our national teams good luck? Yes, it was chaotic but they’re are going in as reigning champs.

Lots of good stuff in the CCC report, but disappointing to see little focus on new modelling: the estimated capital investment needed for Net Zero has fallen from £1.3tn to £0.7tn.

70% of this will come from the private sector—the Government just needs to create the right landscape to unlock it.

Lots of comment on the evening peak in electricity demand last night, particularly from those using this event to make arguments against renewable energy. While this certainly shows that we still need dispatchable power, I think the focus should be on batteries moving forward. 🧵

With the energy price cap rising again on January 1st, I’m resharing a toolkit we created—a one-stop shop explaining what’s happening with bills, where to find advice, and how to access support. With temperatures dropping, I hope it reaches anyone needing help who isn’t sure where to look.
Support for energy bills this winter - Energy UK
What’s happening with energy bills – and how can customers get advice, support, and extra help where they need it? We have produced a toolkit to help MPs support constituents struggling with energy bi...

Refreshing to see recognition of long-term policies, even if they’re not headline-grabbing. Staying focused on stability and steady progress might not excite the 6 o’clock news, but after years of rapid changes and uncertainity, perhaps more ‘boring’ politics is exactly what’s needed.

Interesting to see very strong cross-party support for "environmentalism" in the UK

The only exception is populist right-wing Reform supporters (who only made up 14% of voters at last election in any case)

1/ Since Starmer's speech, there’s been speculation about Labour’s commitment to Clean Power 2030 (CP30), with claims of a shift in ambition but this is not really the case. Let’s break it down. ⚡
