Ooh, I caught the train home from there today too - I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law. It’s a small world.

My heating and electric bills in the UK are actually lower than France (similar size property). I’m surprised,l. I had oil fired heating (1100-1500€ a year) and, as you say, electricity was high 80€+ a month. Here both gas and electric is £100 a month - so I feel I’m winning a bit.

Folk just can’t comprehend that you don’t want or need a relationship. I don’t want to find the one or have to compromise. I like making al the decisions in my life - I’ve had enough of other halves being utter dicks, the rest of my life is mine.

It’s hard learning a different language, particularly if the reason is location rather than pleasure. You have to account for natural ability in languages too, a bit like people who struggle with maths, spelling, sports. When I lived there it was a daily struggle to keep learning.

There are advantages to both, although my son made me realise that as I get older I need access to all the things a town/ city offers in my doorstep, plus transport links. After living remotely for 8 years, I now enjoy life in a market town with trains direct to London to visit my son😁

Cool name, when I worked at the University we had a student called Charity Chabata.

I hate that phrase, used at work for items on agenda’s, I fall asleep it’s so boring - how about we just discuss as we did before 😂😂
