If you’ve got a few friends willing to split it, or can try it at a bar, it’s worth that. I enjoyed it the couple times I tried it but not enough to want a whole bottle.

Also the lower ABV BA beers from Anderson Valley. I’m not arguing that these beers miss some ABV minimum for legitimacy, just that it doesn’t have the body of a “regular” BA beer. I had hoped it would be a perfect substitute for those beers with fewer cals, but it’s not (for my palate).

If you’ve got an interesting story, Attenbororough’s your guy, for the mundane it’s got to be Herzog.

Almost but not quite scratched the “big barrel aged beer” itch. At 5% it was perhaps an unreasonable expectation, instead it’s just its own thing. @beervana.bsky.social also wrote about it a few years ago after it debuted at FoDA.

In addition to those in the article, great Oregon cask beer is also available at Porter Brewing in Bend, Santiam Brewing in Salem, and the Three Legged Crane in Oakridge.

Labels saw diminishing returns the last time and didn’t spend the money to produce them again, so it never became a thing again.

Intensity bias exacerbated by small samples and short timeframe?

Also, the HBC 1019 beers I tasted gave me peach gummy rings, which is maybe my limited palate’s amalgamation of the different elements in the breeders’ tasting notes.

How early is a “relatively early” window? I’ve seen breweries post about Tettnang, Centennial, and Strata so far. I haven’t seen any brewery picking up Cascade but assume it’s imminent or I just missed it. Where does Dolcita sit?

Spoken out loud, the phrase, “…the nueuws in gueuze is not going to ameuese:” is a bit corny, but reading it delivered so much more. Thank you for using print to its full potential.

I figured they wouldn’t feel any pressure to release it unless they were happy with it.
