Notice how both the GL and the RL describe a sinus function, the amplitude of which is 1/8 its period. That's because both intersect the equator and prime meridian at a 45° angle, virtually separating the sphere into eights.

At this point, I was between drawing an equirectangular projection and converting it to sinusoidal or to directly draw a sinusoidal one. In the end I did the first for the GL and RL and the latter for the islands. This way I wouldn't have to take into account any distortion, and it was all easier.

But how can a projection like this be achieved? I was sure it was just some geometric transformation applied to a regular map. And I was right, a sinusoidal projection is just an Equirectangular one (1st image) that tapers across the y-axis according to the sinus function (2nd image)

Making of of a One Piece Globe: the first step consists, as always, of research. I found out globes are usually made using what's called an "interrupted" sinusoidal projection with 12 strips.

This is an example of such, depicting our Earth. So, I needed the map to look like this before printing it.

Yep, that's how I'm doing it now. It is surprising how many official media got it "wrong" though all these years, and even the fandom wiki still gets it wrong stating that the red line traverses the world from North to South.

The one I'm making now has the center of the North Blue as both the geographical and magnetic North Pole, resulting in a map the projection of which results a little bit confusing. But in a globe it makes just as much sense as the other interpretation, even more given then climate of the Grand Line.

At the time it was uncertain, both interpretations were present in official media. Now it is moreless canon. Oth, geographic and magnetic poles may not coincide at all, making it possible for the North Blue to be in the geographical North but not be where compasses point.

I believe hashtags aren't a thing, but feeds collect every "tweet" that contains certain words like "one piece", it may be more complicared than that though.
