Great advice! I think that was my main problem when trying to learn game dev a couple years back. Got too far ahead of myself and just got frustrated. I’ve realized I really need to work up to it now and give myself a good base knowledge and keep building onto it one step at a time.

I just finished his ‘Godot beginner tutorial’ and it was fantastic. Gave me a lot of confidence with using Godot and it’s awesome how similar python and GDScript seem. I think I’ll be sticking with Godot for now! Thanks for the suggestion!!

My current struggle is figuring out which game engine I wanna use. I’m leaning more towards Godot now after trying it out for a couple days. It seems very beginner friends and as someone that know python pretty well it makes everything so much easier.

I love the style of the demo! I miss the old feel those games give off. Good luck in your project! I’m just starting Godot myself.

I think I’m gonna check out Godot over the next week or so and see what I think. I’ve had a lot of people suggest it so far. Also your game is looking good! Good luck on your project and thanks for the advice!!

I’m currently using Unity, but I’ve been told I might have a better time switching to Godot as a beginner and wanting to make a 2D game. What are your thought about Godot?

Those do look amazing! Good luck in your project! :) I hope to see more updates soon!

Unity VR seems interesting! I’m also still at the start of my journey. I’m currently just getting start on my first project which will be a small 2D side-scrolling platformer which follows the story of a stray cat.

That’s awesome! Keep it up! I might try out Godot to see what I think of it. I had someone else suggest it to me earlier. How was your experience with it?

I also tried a couple years ago and got distracted just because life happens. Finally trying to commit myself to something I wanna make though. You should start a project you wanna see come to life! It’s nice to meet you and good luck!

I guess you’re right! Never thought about it like that. I always felt as if I needed something done to feel like a game dev, but if I’m already making a game I guess that already makes me a game dev. 😂

It nice to meet you! And will do!

Thanks for the advice! I wouldn’t say I’m comfortable with it quite yet, but I’m somewhat comfortable with C# programming. Which was one of my main reasons for choosing unity. I’m definitely gonna check out your suggestions though! I’ve messed around a lot in pygames and had a lot of fun with that.
