Seattle’s First Thursday brought rain and the debut of my Extinction Chandelier at the Window Gallery at Shift—dozens of pit-fired ceramic monarch cocoons reflecting on transformation and loss. On view through November at 310 S Washington St.

It's that time again. The annual trip to NYC. Tell me artists. What is your favorite tiny cool mom and pop art supply store. Do they still exist?

I had a blast demonstrating encaustic monotypes and letting the Fresh Paint fans get their hands dirty. To everyone who came up saying, "I'm not an artist" I hope you had a great time @schackartcenter and thanks for stopping by my table.

Encaustic monotype is one of my passions so I'm beyond excited to have "Peruvian Lillies" get juried into the Kenmore Art Show. This work was first drawn on the hot palette using large encaustic wax "brushes".

Seattle friends....

Come join me at the Dorothy O'Brien Center for the Cancer Lifeline show on August 13th.

That moment right before the breakthrough—that’s where this piece lives. Exists Only To Make is about the quiet discipline of showing up. Of trusting spring will come, even when it still feels like winter.

Now available. Message me for details.

I’m beyond thrilled to announce that my gouache sketchbook has been officially accepted into the prestigious (and extremely petite) @artsofkenmore Free Little Art Gallery located at the Kenmore Hanger.
Want to enter- get your tiniest art and bring it down.

Something new is blooming at the Kenmore Art Show—and it’s waxy, wild, and full of color. My encaustic monotype inspired by Peruvian lilies is making its debut! The theme is Joy. Did I capture that?
Show runs Aug 15–24 at Kenmore City Hall. artsofkenmore.org

Playing in ceramics lately and while @alittleindigo.bsky.social was in town we made custom watercolor palettes. Check out the fancy paint wells created from scallop shell impressions. Thanks to the expertise of @chatterofcrows.bsky.social

Ever have one of those days? Me too. So I grabbed a glass of wine (that I forgot to drink), threw some paint around, and made a scribble face—my favorite way to unwind. If you've had a long one, consider this your permission to decompress with art. Cheers to getting through the day.

Seattle Art Fair!
Can't believe I got to run into @lizruest.com without even planning it. That's like meeting someone on the metro in Paris. And yes that happened to me once.
I had a blast and really tried to talk with the gallerists this time instead of walking around with my mouth agape.

What is your favorite warm up?

I’ve been waking up early and going to the studio to paint. Before coffee and before the workday starts.

I get out a big piece of paper.

And I start these by blindly drawing or painting ting with water-soluble graphite. I just close my eyes and start making marks.

Book burnings, kidnappings, climate crisis. America the beautiful?

Pretty work for a not very pretty time in the US. If you want to see how this encaustic collage was created it's on my YouTube. #encausticart

Excavating the Bones of Democracy
Canvas, wax, plaster

It most definitely feels like the end of the American democratic government as we know it.

I love hand making my collage paper but it's nice to get some gorgeous paper from the professionals.

Sadly Paper Circle is closing it's doors so I don't know how long they'll have paper for sale but if you love fun papers to inspire your collage projects check them out. papercircle.org

This little treasure finally found it's keeper at the Itty Bitty Art Show.
I loved creating this encaustic artwork using layers of hand-painted calligraphy paper with a final embellishment of gold.
"Space for Serenity" was the title I chose. Do you think it fits?

I love the strange ones. The awkward, contorted, overlooked trees. The ones with limbs like bent elbows or twisting spines. My neighbor had one like that—odd and wonderful. I think it was a Rowan Tree — cut down in 2021 memorialized in my watercolor.
